exhaust manifold boltz?

the boltz that go into the exhaust manifold, what is the easiest way to get them out? penetrating oil and then let it sit for a while or? please anything will help..and say they do break. i just attempt to drill them out? or? also.. there is a massive amount of wind coming from the back of the manifold and i was wondering would this cause the engine to idle and drive extremely harsh? or? app the help

Re: exhaust manifold boltz?

Let them soak for awhile with pb catalyst and tap 'em with a hammer a bit to try and get the stuff to soak in. What kind of "wind" do you mean?

Re: exhaust manifold boltz?

when the engine is idling there is a massive amount of air flowing from the engine at the back of the exhaust manifold to the firewall of the car

Re: exhaust manifold boltz?

while im not quite sure what you mean by 'boltz' but the exhaust manifold bolts on mine came right off with a little muscle pushing the wrench, im by no means extremely buff so if i can get em loose im sure anyone else can

Re: exhaust manifold boltz?

wicked.. does anyone else with a 305 v8 accually have a gasket in between the manifold and the engine block? or was there never one there?

i took a look at mine today and it seems there was a bolt missing so i went and got a new one and it made the engine barly run.. my muffler is crushed so i believe that is what is going it.. i will disconnect it tommorrow to see if that is what is causing the weird idle... thanks for the help

Re: exhaust manifold boltz?

yep there are gaskets, not 1 big one but 3 smaller ones, 1 for the outer 2 cylinders and 1 for the inner 2
