The only 383 from the factory in a thirdgen was one or two of the SLP Firehawks, and those were hardly factory stock. This guy is a typical muscle car owner who thinks his car is more unique than everyone else's.

Re: Factory 383 3rd gen

It is a limited edition "Motion Phase 2" edition, which came equipped with a 383 that made over 400 HP.
If he is talking about a "Baldwin-Motion" car then it is possible it came with a 383 or was at least heavily worked....BM has made lots of "custom" new F-Body cars over the years. I am not personally familiar with any 383 3rd Gens but it isn't out of the realm of possibility AFAIK.

No clue about the rest of his talk about a "bone-stock" Vette LT1 on the bottle, sorry.

Re: Factory 383 3rd gen

if i remember right though baldwin motion was not doing any work on any f-body after the second gen.. wish i could find that page again. but they just newly came back. Might be something to actually look into as for the dates of business for them to see if it was even possible during that time frame, or whther he is trying to BS it.

Re: Factory 383 3rd gen

it is bs...link 2 says car ran 9.98 at 13X so he spends a ton of cash to have it run barely into the 11's?

http://www.officialbaldwinmotion.com/home.htm

According to what I read on that link they have dabbled in cars since then but nothing "official" like in the 60's & 70's........mostly high cost specialty stuff.....kinda like the Berger cars, Mecham T/A's, etc. More then likely the dude in those links is full of crap.

Chevrolet never built for production a 383ci engine. All of these a TUNER cars that came from SLP, or Baldwin, or Berger, et.al. Most were very well done and can be worth good money.

Very true
Alot of the time people think that they came from the factory that when when in fact the cars were shipped out from the factory to SLP, Berger, Baldwin, or Yanko or what have you.

Baldwin has been getting its hands wet over the last few years playing with the Camaro & it has plans to play alittle more with the 5th Gen Camaro when it comes out.

If you look at the pics showing the inside of the car, you'll notice it has full interior and not even so much as a hoop, let alone a roll cage.

that guy is about 20 miles away from me, I've spoke with him and he'll be the one tuning my car this summer. I'll ask him about it when I see him.
