One of my friends went from TPI to carb. He ran a standard performer manifold and a holley with a 3" air cleaner all under a stock hood. Strange stuff.

I've got an eddie 600 on mine at the moment with one inch spacer and an eddie performer air gap manifold and stock heads... she clears just fine on my firebird. I have a cowl hood, but its got reinforcements underneath, so its the same clearance distance, just holes in between the reinforcers.

Cowl hoods look pretty damn sweet anyways.

If your Z28 hood is in good shape, I'd consider buying it from you.

Anybody here rocking a hole cut in their hood? I might be forced to do that....do those aftermarket 4th gen SS hoods have extra height?

I've been borrowing cars to get to school the past week while I've been swapping the motor...I just can't afford to have any more downtime...I can't wait 2-6s for shipping, and I've called 3 junkyards around me, none have hoods....(thats unbelievable considering how many 3rd gens were made)....

youve gotta think though...junkyard=collision cars=hood quite often gets wrecked. You could drive with no hood for the 2-6 weeks =)

I know...but I'm wondering how much cops will appreciate that....I go to school 2-4 times a day...there is ALWAYS a cop on the main road that turns onto the college waiting for kids to leave college and go speeding off....the ol "im going to the bodyshop tomorrow" doesn't work if thats the 7th day in a row hes pulled me over for no hood....
