Going Old School with a 92 RS
1992 RS 5spd, I have a 355 and TH350 that I want to put in it. This engine/trans came out of an 84 Buick Regal.
Q. Will the trans bolt up with no significant fit problems?
Q. Can I use the original RS driveshaft?
Q. I know I have to buy headers, is there anything else I'll need?
TIA, Jason

If that's orginally a TH-350 that sat in front of a Buick engine, then it won't bolt to a small block Chevy. Different bolt pattern.
Haven't done a TH-350 into a 3rd gen myself so I won't try to comment further on that. Ask around. I'm sure many have done it on this board and others.

You'll need a custom crossmember and a longer driveshaft for the TH350. Also, as Damon said, many of the Regals had BOP engines....that will limit your options in the future when you get sick of not having overdrive. Check and make sure it's a Chevy motor and not a BOP engine before you stick it in there.

Thanks guys.
It is a chevy engine I think, here is a picture of it as it sits at my house.
I have no pwr steering on the motor also, is there a manual box that will bolt on the F body frame with a good ratio?

Back in 84 when the new G bodies came out they went corporate...meaning, all the 84 SS montes, pontiac GP, Regals all had that L69 and TH350...85 or maybe 86 they went 200-r4....
youll need a crossmember and a longer driveshaft...of if you were lucky enough to find a Long Shaft TH350 like those found on campers or heavey vans, you wouldnt need the drivesahft as there the same lenght as the 700

That is a Chevy engine. That means 3rd gen headers will fit it, 3rd gen accessories will fit it, and it'll drop right into the engine bay. You can use an S10 manual steering box (run a search on it to find out what years....I can't remember) or just mount up your stock P/S pump and keep the power steering. If the RS is a V8 car you can swap the whole serpentine system over to the 355.

To put a TH350 in a Camaro you don't need a custom crossmember. It will bolt up, I have done it before. Also just find an '82 Camaro with a TH200 tranny (3 speed) and use that driveshaft, it is the corret length to use with a TH350, once again I have done it and it will work. The only thing you need is a bracket to hook up your torque arm, which you should still be able to get from Summit or Jegs., I believe it was a B&M kit.
