ground effects removal on a 92

ground effects removal on a 92

After you remove all the screws on top of the ground effects and the underside ones how do you get them off the body on a 92 RS. I thought they were the same as my Z but i guess not.

mine seems to be falling off on its own, now to get it off when you want is a different story... lol

you talking about the rocker panel ones?

if so, I know on a 89 there are screws under the emblem(IROC/RS) at the front

There is also a sheetmetal nut that holds them on in the rear quarter panel. You'll have to remove the lower back seat and carpet, as well as some foam-like sound padding to get to it with an 11mm socket. Best I remember, the nut should be about 6" in front of the rear wheel well.


Be sure to tape your extensions and sockets together cause dropping them in that part of the car is a PITA.

if you have a small arms you can reach it through the speaker hole under the sail panel

Damn, i remember the 90 and pre ground effects were the fiberglass ones with the screws behind the emblems but ive never dealt with the aero scoop type ground effects. So damn i have to take all the carpet out and ****? I just got done cleaning the carpet and putting all my wires down for my amp n ****. Thanks for the help i guess ill just wait till summer to do the work.
