Ground wire question!
Im suppose to have a ground wire on the generator bracket on my 86 z28, 305 tpi, and I don't. What was that ground for, and what wire is it suppose to be? Alos, if its not too much trouble whats the main grounds locations I need to worry about? Thanks in advance.

Re: Ground wire question!
Don't sound right. The alternator bracket is hard mounted (bolted) to the block so it does not need a separate ground wire. Most third gens. have the negative battery cable attached to the alternator bracket. Is this what you mean by ground wire?
The engine should be grounded to the body. At least two, one on the back to the firewall and one on the side or front to the body. The bat. cable is usually a two wire cable with the large cable going to the alt. bracket and a smaller (8 or 10 gage) wire going to the body.
