Headers?

Headers?
What is everyone's favorite headers for the L98 engine? I am thinking about either SLP 1 3/4 inch or Edelbrock nickel plated. Also, how much skin do you have to lose to install them? THANKS!

Because the L98 is a torque engine, I guess that's what I am looking to gain. I have removed both cats and added flowmaster muffler. The shorties would probably be easier to install compared to the long tubes. Thanks for the input.

Longtubes make better torque, and slightly better HP. Installing them is a pain though, and you have to get creative with the Y-pipe if you don't wanna spend a ton of money on one. I personally am going to use shorties, because longtubes won't clear the T-56 clutch hydros (or so I've been told.)
SLP makes great headers, and so does Hooker. Hedman's are pretty damn good, but not quite as good as Hooker or SLP. Edelbrock I hear mixed reviews about...some like them some don't. I personally will get either Hedman or Hooker.

I am leaning towards the SLP 1 3/4 headers. I am planning on more aggressive mods in the future. Does anyone know from experience what is the limits for engine mods, before computer recalibration is needed? I have the speed density system on my 92 Z28.

If you are doing headers you shoud be fine. However, just from personal experience, the EPROM in your car is not the greatest. I stuck the Accel Superram on my car and noticed a great difference. Next came headers and there was even more difference. However the car was not really running at it's best. I took it down to Lingenfelter and he really woke the car up with an EPROM change. Took a while because he would drive the car, burn the eprom and do it a couple of times. He also had to have monitering equipment hooked up. Since I could not drive the car there the last time I had stuff done, he recommended www.fasterproms.com to fix the eprom. They would burn you a chip to your specs, have you install it and take readings, do it a couple of times till it is nuts on then charge you $350. In future, if you want to repeat the procedure, it is $150

Thanks for the replies, I would like to get the car in the 12's. I ran the car for the first time last thur night, it went 14.34 @ 95. I wanted a base run before I start bolting on things. I am not going to get too radical with mods, I am thinking of Vortec heads and 150 shot nitrous kit.
