HELP! crack between header + AIR tubes

HELP! crack between header + AIR tubes

the two small air tubes coming from the air injection have cracked at the top of the welds right at the header pipes on cyls 3 and 5 .. they are slp 1 3/4 headers on a 90 l98....

is there any i mean ANY way to temporary fix this ... my 97 ss fuel pump just crapped out and this iroc is ticking under load....i heard that JB weld might work because they are hairline cracks but the tubes are broken threw..

any ideas would save my life... i have a new job pullin doubles and don't have time in the next two weeks to fix either car....thanks

they aint headers if they have air tubes, lol

one more time on that..

slp 1 3/4 (headers) part #30001c are smog legal and have the AIR injection tubes..look it up

WoW umm im gonna feel like a tool for saying i dont know, i dont think so

What do you mean fuel tank baffles? ive never put too much thought into my rpo codes and my fuel tank is pretty tucked up there so dont really spend much time looking at it.

And i have no idea what you mean by oil cooler sway bar

i was joking about the headers dude. I would never buy headers with air tubes because they do exactly the opposite of what real headers are for. headers are designed to quickly get the exhaust out of the heads and down the pipes, when you have air tubes ur forcing air into the headers causing turbalance so it ****s everything up. obvisously for your application you have to have air tubes though.

i'll be more specific the 1le is a race package that was issued to a camaro 305 5 speed or a 350 auto if the car was ordered with the performance axle(G92) ratio and WITHOUT air conditioning. it included oil cooler ,larger sway bars, harder springs, larger front disc brakes, fuel tank baffles, jounce bumpers, with power everything "delete", fog lamp delete sound deadening delete, duel converter exhaust, aluminum driveshaft,shocks and a few other minor things.....there are quite a few 88-92 cars with some of these options because they ordered the axle BUT also ordered air conditioning. i have 2 irocs 89 350 ,90 350 and both of them have some of these options..i asked about your 90 because they made only 2,415 irocs with the 5.7 l98 that year and they all seem to have something from this package. see if you have the 9 bolt axle. you can check on iroczone ,there are quite a few guys with these mixed part cars.. the gas tank will have baffles inside that trap the gas for the dual fuel pickup tubes .you won't be able to get more than about 13.7 gallons in the tank when it's bone dry..the sway bars are much larger in diameter..and the oil cooler is connected to the filter. you will see coolant lines running from the cooler around the front of your motor to the pass side and tap into the heater hose... lot of info sorry

and yes i know exactly what headers are for and what they do..mine are only connected once every two years for about 2 hours for smog. the prob. is they cracked at the weld to the primary....

You might try some of that muffer putty stuff, it might be alittle easier to clean off when you get it welded. As for that if it is accessable and you know a good welder, you could heve them welded (if they'er not to bad) without removeing them from the car.

On this subject; I once put 17.5 gallons of fuel in my '96 Z. How would you explain that!

You don't have a baffled tank, and gas is denser when its colder??
just a thought seens when it's colder out I can get another tenth or two in the tank.

Im pretty sure i have the larger sway bars, not sure about the oil cooler dont think so, i have 4 wheel disc brakes not sure which size they are, never looked inside my fuel tank so hell if i know lol, jounce bumpers? lol what does jounce mean thats a new word to me. I have the dual cat exhaust.

I also have power everything, and air conditioning. Have fog lamps. My car had just about every option onthing deleted

its a 10 bolt tho. Wish it was a 9.

well BLK96Z28 AKA "JTM"

The pump lied to you.. now someone you know has a 2002 z28 where that might be possible because they increased the fuel tank size in 1999 going from a 15.5 gal tank to a 16.8 gallon unit....


and jounce bumpers are small rubber bumpers on the frame right above the rear axle on both sides they keep the tire from striking the body on hard hits. you can see them easily with the tire off.. the 1le cars had harder durometer J bumpers because of the lower ride of the 1le springs..
