How can I stay at WOT in 4th gear??
#16
if i rememebr corectly, u need a 4th gear kickdown something or another. basically what is happening is, in a 700r4 u can only use 4th gear if u r out cruizing *low RPMS* but if u go past like 3/4 *or is it 1/4 throttle* throttle, it kicks down into 3rd *i hated this casue it top out then engine *my old 355* at 130'ish. i beleive www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com sells these 4th gear kick down eliminators fairly cheap. i also know www.tpis.com sells them *thats where i got mine.. so i know they have it.

I have the b&m valve that was listed earlier, its a piece of cake to install. just drop the pan, undo like 3 bolts, slip out the old valve and put the new one in. if you're in there you might as well change the filter cause you'll have to take it out of the way to get to the bolts.
The valve works great on the highway, although it definately takes some getting used to when you think it should downshift to pass someone and it doesn't unless you really lay into it. I love being able to cruise around in 4th gear and not worry about the stupid thing downshifting all the time.
I've been told numerous times that you shouldn't have to shift into OD at the track, what gears are you running? You should be hitting the top of 3rd at the very end of the 1/4 (in a perfect world w/ a perfectly matched setup)

First, "do not" disconnect the TV cable, as this can/will destroy your transmission. Second, modify the TV plunger sleeve by blocking the 4-3 part throttle passages with 2 small Allen screws (17 cents each). This will give you 3-4 WOT shifts at the predetermined governor shift points. It will also eliminate the 4-3 down shift once above about 75 mph.

Do not disconnect the TV cable. It helps determine fluid pressure in the trans. More throttle = more pressure. Or something like that.
