How can I tell what engine is in the car?
If I'm looking to pick up say a 91/92 Camaro, how can I tell what engine is in the car? I look on autotrader but no one says what engine they've got, unless they've done some kind of swap or major work.
Can you tell from the VIN? Are the engines marked under the hood?

The eigth diget in the vin will tell you what engine came stock with the car. Use the vin decoder. Depends on which Camaro you are looking at. Example: If its a Z28 and it has a Carb, its a swapped engine or modded.

ok well my VIN says the 8th letter is E which makes it TBI...but that doesnt tell me what size the motor is???
It's an 89 Camaro RS 5.0 L
Can someone tell me what exactly this means? and what my engine is?
