How do us lowly RS's stand to 3800 '98+ Cars?

Guy at school has been bugging to race me. He's got a 100% stock 1998 Camaro 3.8L A4. I told him in 2-3wks because that's when my 4.10's will be in. So there you have it:

1992 Camaro RS LO3/6spd/4.10
1998 Camaro Coupe 3.8/4L60E/?

Throw in your opinions.

Stock 3800's run in the mid low 15's. If your RS is stock, that 3.8 is gonna getcha. I know my old 86 5.0 Z28 ran like 16.4's allday with a catback, some intake work and little other stuff. The 3800's are pushing around 170 tothe wheels with exhaust. Be careful, they tookmeold Z out on the regular

Be careful, what they lack out of the whole, they make up for in the top end. My cousins 96' 3800 stick, could chirp tires in three gears with a k&n and the a/c on, I was impressed for a 6 banger camaro. It has no contest compared to his now 96' t/a though.

Hehe, as I (and the others) say... they're mean little cars for V6's. I think with 4:10's, and a sound LO3, you'll take him. Just my thoughts. With the warmed over L98, 4:10's, etc, you'll definately get the bastard.

I personally haven't raced one but if I did I would bet on me

I would bet on you with the manual and gears. I have seen plenty of v6 fbodys but most of them run mid to high 15s.

You "did" 136 in a 45, and got off with a ticket? Yeah right, they probably would have impounded your car, maybe arrest you while they were at it. Your insurance would sky rocket with a ticket like that. I have a very hard time beleiving they would give you a TICKET for going more than 3 times over the posted speed limit in a 45

It happens.

My ex boss was test driving a Trans Am and the state of Maryland got him for 131 in a 65, $1010 fine and on his way.

I got a 96 in a 55 once, $505 fine (and on my way).

I passed a cop at 115 in a 45, he missed us with the radar gun, but chased us (no lights, didn't see him) for 4 miles at over 100mph (per his statement) and wrote me a speed greater than reasonable and "on my way".

I really does happen (and I've had 28 tickets total, and my insurance is just fine).

you could take him. When I raced a 95 v6 camaro i pretty much kept up with her. it was dead even. i was driving my 84 Z with an open element, 3 inch cat and flowmaster cat-back. she said she had a bunch of mods but her dad did them so she didnt know what they were lol. pretty cool girl though, too bad she had a guy in the passenger seat
