How much of a boost would a new ignition be?

How much of a boost would a new ignition be?
I was considering installing a MSD digital 6 ignition box, and a new MSD coil. Any one know if I'd notice any kind of ET improvement, or gas mileage or anything? Will it be worth the 200-300 I'll have to pay? I still have the stock coil in my car, but I have a Mallory distributer.

I just installed it on my 386 stroker, it makes the car fun alittle better, its more crisp and clean sounding. Runs alittle bit better also, i have the msd coil with it to. Unless you have money to blow on msd, then dont get it. Its not worth $300. At least not to me.

The MSD box will make your motor idle better, run cleaner and give you a little better gas milage(like a few miles to a tank). We installed one on our 67 Camaro with 12:1 and it idled better and didn't want to load up anymore. It also helped starting the motor up. If you want an ignition box look into the Crane Digital VI box ($199.95 Summit). They are comparable to the MSD 6AL but cheaper and they are potted for vibration dampening, something the MSD box doesn't have.

A friend of mine with an Accel 300+ ignition installed it on his heavily modded mustang and said it help the low idle smooth out. I stuck it on my 383 and never noticed a difference. Took it out and still had no difference. I took out the module and left the coil in and no difference.
If you had to get something, get the Accel 300+. It has a rev limiter in it. Also, it is multistrike (5 sparks instead of 1) till 3200 RPM. They do tell you to back off the timing by a couple of degrees because it will add timing by doing the 5 spark dance.
