HSR camshaft recommendations ??

HRS Camshaft Recommendation?
Which cam?? Recommendations?

Hope you guys that have done the HSR swap can help me out.

87 IROC Z. 355 HSR, 1.6 full roller rockers, AFR 190 heads, headers/exhaust, 700R4 with 2800 stall. 3.45 rear gears. custom programmed chip.

I'm currently running a comp. cams roller 210int./220exh. with .480" lift (.512 with 1.6 rockers) and a 112* lobe seperation. (It's a 260HR-12 i think.)

I want to increase the usable RPM, make good street torque, but take advantage of the good heads for some big HP and RPM.

I want to maintain decent highway mileage and have a strong midrange. My cruise RPM is about 2500 (+-).

I have an identical setup as yours except I'm running a Comp Cams XE 230/236. .544"/.555" 112 LSA and Yank ST3500 stall converter.

aklim, that link is expensive! The LT4 hot cam was priced @ 349, it's 175 here http://www.sdpc2000.com . As far as a cam that will go well with the HSR. The HSR is similar to teh mini ram/lt1 intake. I bet the lt4 hot cam would work awsome with that set up. I'm considering that cam in the near future. I think my no. 5 header tube may be casued by a re-ground cam and the duration my be wrong on no. 5. So I may be purchasing the hot cam to replace my zz3 cam. Later, HSR

LT-1/LT-4 HTM custom camshaft--Hyd. roller '92-'96 $349.95

That is a custom grind one. HTM is the name of the company High Tech Motorsport.

Id recommend either the XR276HR or the XR282HR. The cam you have now seems very small for your setup.

thanks for your input everyone.

IROCZZ3 nice car, and very nice 1/4 times! I hope mine comes close to that with the new cam.

Have you ever been on a dyno? I wonder what RWHP it's making. You like the way that cam works, ie. torque curve etc? How's it in everyday driving? Do any highway trips or anything?

One is by GM to a set of specs where emissions comes first and power second and it has to work reasonably well with their current chips. The other is set to make power first and emissions second and will require reprogramming for sure. Just my $0.02

Thanks- I haven't been to the dyno yet, but my guess is probably around 340 RWHP...still needs more tuning. It's a fairly big cam for a 350 but I do drive it almost everyday so street manners are pretty good. It's a little sluggish down low as expected, but having a high stall converter helps so it's not too noticeable.

Highway driving? I drive it to the track all the time which is 2 1/2 hours north, or 1 1/2 hours south depending on which track I go to.

Formularpm: Would you say to go with 110* or 112* lobe separation on these cams? Or do you think this makes much difference overall?? I guess the 112* cam will idle a bit better.
