Post I did not know where else to post this.

I do not know where this should be post, and this seemed like the only section, I could not find a "general" forum.
Anyways.

My friends family is running low on the cash(various reasons.) And they need to sell this.
It needs MAJOR body work.(Mostly just a paintjob.)
New airfilter, I have NO idea how many miles are on it.(odometer says 500,000) they say there is a different engine in it, a 327 they THINK, first of all, were 327's not stock on the 87 Z28's? And how would I find out what size the engine really is?
I live in NY, the problem is winter, people say RWD's are better in the winter, but I sincerely do not believe that, it will be my first car, and I do not want to die.
It runs, and the blinker is not working. I think I may just buy it, fix it up until I go into debt. :-D and just keep it, I think it would be a good way to learn about cars, have some fun, and have a car!!
Questions, comments? Care to tell me to shut up?
Feel free. :-)

no 327s. prolly a 305. but if so thats fine to start with. as far as rear wheel drive goes, they are better in the winter if you like doing donougts in parking lots like me you can look under the alt. for the stamped eng. serial code. there will be a pad that sticks out from under the head that will have a long code on it. you need to copy that code down and post it here. maybe someone will know how to look it up as to which eng. it is and what car it orig. came in. have fun w/it. chris

I know how to look up VIN's.
And you were right, it probably is a 305, it is automatic and I doubt anyone changed the engine.
The guy that said 327 was a fool. But then again, I was too for believing him, I decided NOT to get it.
It needs work, paint, time, money, things I do not really have to offer, I need something more reliable, probably an Oldsmobile.
American for life!!
