I hate 305 bashers!!!!!!!!

305's can be fun to build up, the problem is, when you get a fast 305 running, no one will ever believe you that it's a 305.
I had myself a vortec 305, it went pretty good and would hold it's own on mild to stock 302's. Then i blew it up
my 350 would run circles around my 305 and they both had the same parts on it.
I will still mod a 305 if my next camaro/firebird has one in it.
I won't put parts on it that will only work with a 305 though,
I will make sure it will work well on a 350+ also.

Ive had LT1s give me that 305 crap at stoplights right before I them. With the stock TPI as everyone knows its a low end torque ***** and Because you ussually dont race all that far on the street its hard to beat a TPI. The only race Ive ever lost badly on the street was to an LS1 and that was before my cam, headers and Flowmaster; I think I may be able to hold my own with one now. But I want more power in the quarter so Im going to a big Holley and Team G intake I dont have the money to build the TPI.

I only had to use 100HP jets in my nitrous system to get it to run 13.30's These are SWEET engines...
The guys that have the FREAKISHLY fast 305 enines...I hate you hehehe I'd actually like to get one of those THEN start the mods...There's a local cnvertibe here with a 305 and headers, ignition, exhaust, gear running like 14.40's...That's a good start i think...ah well
And honestly...My little 305 runs 87 MPH on motor and 105 MPH on a 100 shot. I don't know WHY it gained 18 total MPH in the 1/4 mile but I was happy with that!! Fun while it lasted...Now it's winter time. Time to save, time to spend, time to wrench...
I'll leave with the famous line of any automotive message board..."Wait until spring!!!"
Chuck...you can let go of your nuts now. I won't rip them off, this year.

How many types of stock 350s are there? Dozens? 2 barrels, 4 barrels, L98s?
My 305 will keep up with ANY stock L98, and wail those others, easily.
And what is wrong with mid-14s in the quarter?
Moreover, EVERY piece currently sitting in the 305 will work perfectly in a 350. So why should we throw away perfectly good 305s? That can wait until it is worn out.
And you're a wimp anyway--real men don't drive 350s, they get 383s and 400s when their 305 wears out

I dont understand why so many 350 guys act hard, but barely run 13's. Back in my near stock days, I could run 14.4 @99.8 consistently, and that was with terrible traction. I always felt these 5 spd G92s were some of the fastest irocs. Had I run slicks, it woulda been a close to 13 second run. How many near stock 350 tpis do that? Oh..almost none. Whatever your motor size is....I could care less. So the next guy who says to get a 350...ask him what he runs. When he says 14.2 or 14.6, tell him to eat it.

For the 305 guys, if it makes you feel any better, one the quickest IROCs out there is Preston Smith's. He ran a 9.9 with a Vortech blown 305 (bored .030 over IIRC). Now he's turbocharged, but I don't know what he runs now but still uses a 305. His car is totally streetable.
For those that say "put that turbo/supcharger on a 350, and see what happens"....well, has anyone really done it, cuz I sure haven't seen it. At least I haven't seen the numbers to prove otherwise. If Preston were to put a 350 in his IROC and swap everything on his 305 over to the 350, theoretically he should be running quicker than 9.9, correct?
I'm surprised Willie hasn't said something yet. His car is another well engineered 305 that runs 12 flat with a Procharger. That's as quick, if not quicker than a lot of 350s I've seen with a blower with similar mods.
Since we're talking about cubes, if I had a 305 and wanted a bigger motor, I'd skip the 350 and go to a stroked 400!

Preston Smith's "305" is a joke. It may be 305 cubic inches, but it's FAR from a stock bore and stroke. It's got a huge bore and a very short stroke. He was also running 24lbs of boost when he got it into the 9s. Don't get me wrong, that car is absolutely astonishing and I'm not taking anything away from it, but to compare it to a stock 305 is ridiculous. It's got as much in common with a stock 305 as my motor has in common with a winston cup motor. There's way more to a motor than cubic inches. It just happens that the stock bore & stroke on a 305 leaves a lot to be desired.

I also don't see why 350 guys bash 305's, I've seen many 350 cars that are rediculously slow.
The 350 guys bash the 305 guys, but i NEVER see 351 windsor guys bashing the 302 guys!! I don't understand..
I noticed alot of people that have 305's just put in parts that are mis-matched (mostly cams that are too big for stock heads/intake). This obviously will get you nowhere if you're looking for good 1/4 mile times.
So far I like my choice of a 335 stroker, and here's why:
1. It's unique.
2. I haven't seen one other person build one.
3. It seems to have quite the large amount of torque.
4. This thing rev's extremely quick, so it makes me wonder what it will do on the dyno / track.
5. I want to see what this bitch will pull in the 1/4
Later guys

It came with an Eagle 3.750 crank, Eagle CR3 rods (I upgraded from the base CR1 rods), Keith Black 10:1 hypereutectic pistons, a complete gasket set, Pioneer flex plate and 8" balancer, and the whole bottom end was balanced. As you can see, these are all top-notch companies, and they have a good reputation in the industry. I found no problems with these parts, and they all seem to be made very well. Super Chevy magazine had a project car with this 335 kit in it, and they were VERY impressed. They also had a puny cam (.444 lift I think), while mine is .480.
In total the kit itself came to $993 I beleive, since I opted to get better rods and I got it balanced too.
Basically all my other mods are on my website. The motor isn't broken in yet, but when I was messing around in my driveway.. the car feels extremely torquey and powerful, it revs very quick also. Once its broken in this coming summer, I'll be taking it to the Dyno, and maybe New England Dragway if I get a chance.
This kit will require block, rod, & oil pan clearancing. E-mail me or PM me if you want me to go more in detail. Me and my father did all of this ourselves in our garage.

Great looking car!! I cehcked out your page...sounds like more of an engine for my 81. But it is gonna have the weekend racer 350, custom built by me engine. When it comes to clearances and having to do all that minute stuff, I lack patience. Bad trait of mine. However, make sure you let us see the time slips!!! So can the 350 guys bash you? Your not a 305, but not yet a 350? haha

I'll be sure to post the slips/ dyno runs when I get them
Yeah the 350 guys still bash me a little, but I just laugh. They always say "small bore & large stroke = little horsepower gain".
They don't usually say much though, I guess my car is one of a kind.
