I need some things cleared up

1. wtf is an opti? where is it located
2. whats the difference between that and my cap and rotor
3. why does that low track light come on a low speed like while your in stop an go traffic?
4. I'm getting some hesitation and i hear some kind of snapping noise while in park my thought is bad plug boots and wires.
5.my cap and rotor is in the back of my engine but everyone say when your water pump goes it wipes out your distributor wtf is that about? and someone told me some models had your distributor can be in the front of the motor or the back?
5 my car keeps over heating i just put a new thermostat in but i didnt hear my fans not that i can hear or see them, any ideas why they dont work? and it only overheats while sitting other then that it barely makes it to the half way mark.
I know this car has potential but it need some help i know how to turn a wrench but this motor seems foreign to me its got power when it there. Also why does my throttle seem to stick alittle at low mph like leaving a light or when our backing it up just tapping it it was to stay down then flys back and hits your foot. You guys know your Lt1's like i know quads inside and out so im turning to ya all for some advise
I'm also doing my plugs this weekend for the first time any suggestions. And no beer cause then nothing gets done other then b*llsh*ting around. it a 1994 z28 with 130,000 thanks for your help bryan

If its really a 94 it sounds like someone pulled the ol' switch-er-oo on you and replaced the LT1 with a gen1 small block...probably a 305 to boot! lol. All LT1s have the distributor in the front. You either got hosed on that car deal or you are lucky.......depending on how you feel about LT1s. If it turns out to be a 305 i would be pretty PO'ed!

1. The Opti is the entire distributor, and is located on the front of all LT1 blocks below and behind the water pump.
2. The Cap and Rotor are parts of the distributor.
3. 4. & 6. Are probably problems that were caused when the engine was swapped and the guy who did it, didn't do a very good job.
5. Because, (read maliburacer80 response).

If you don't know the difference between an LS#, an LT# and earlier SBC, you need to find someone to help you that does! Or buy a few Hot Rod mags. and start looking at the pretty pictures.

It's not the stock motor if the dizzy is in the back. Stock for a 3rd gen, yes, but not for a 4th Gen. Whoever did the swap may have made it look clean but it is definitely not stock. I just hope you're dealing with a TPI 350 and not a 305. If it's a 305 you have been massively screwed. If it's a 350 you might be able to get something out of it. Sounds like your fan relay is bad from what you're saying as well. Or some other electrical problem in that part of it. I'm no SME of electrical stuff though so I can't help you there. Show us a pic of the motor and we'll confirm that it's an SBC (although you can't really tell 305 vs 350 just looking at it sitting in the engine bay as far as I know) If I'm wrong on that someone give me correct info but that's my understanding.

Yeah some pics. And post the year and model of the car.

Met a guy at a work required class who said that he had a third gen with an LT1 in it and I said that I'd like to see that. He drove it to class the next day and it was a beautiful yellow Camaro Z28. He popped the hood and there's this carbed conventional small block in there and he goes on to tell me that it's an LT1 from a 70 'vette that been all built up and swapped into his car. Oooohhhh that LT1. There were 2 motors designated LT1 or Lt1. I think that there was a difference in what letters were capitalized.
