IAC Sticking?

IAC Sticking?
Well just out of curiousity (and a really bad low idle problem), I unscrewed the IAC today. I took it out and pushed on the end. The end with the spring attached won't budge. The dude at autozone told me it's supposed to go up when you push. . Is this normal? Thanks!

It take quite a bit of force, but don't hit it on something. If you get it pushed most of the way in, reinstall it, turn the key on/engine off and check codes. That will cause it to come back out fully, unplug it before you remove the ALDL short, if it didn't come out like 1.5" it's bad.
If it did, I'd spray lots of carb cleaner(cool engine)around the gasket areas and see if the idle drops, that'll be a leak.

It could be stuck because of the carbon build up and the part where the pintle contacts the housing. Take the entire housing out and check it and then clean it. Clean it with brake cleaner and then reassemble. Watch it with a scantool and see if the IAC counts change.
