Ignition question...

If a car has no torque down low and just doesn't sound right....is that too much advanced? My car is just no cooperating...the stock Y-pipe doesn't fit, so I'm just waiting for a cop to pull me over and give me a 1500$ fine. Meanwhile it seems like no matter what is done to the ignition it has no torque and/or runs very rough and sounds very bad.

A new distributor fixed the problem of not being able to idle (thought it was a vacuum leak). Now we think it might a big ignition problem and/or a vacuum leak....

We're gonna take out plug #1 and check TDC and reseal the intake....but anyone care to give any thoughts?

8 degrees advanced is what we tried it at...we're doubting the timing mark we put on the damper because it won't run well @ 8 degrees, the cam WAS installed correctly.

The outside of the balancer may have spun around the rubber ring. Advance the timing in 2* increments and see if it gets better.

Well we found out, 23 degrees retarted, the timing mark on the damper was way off. That might do it...

Didn't get to start it and test it (11pm with open headers will wake up my boss' kids) but we are confident that it will run MUCH happier next time....cept for the fact my high torque starter is KILLING my battery.
