Keeping her cool???
Im having problems getting my car to stay cool. It doesnt get too hot around here and peaks at 30*c. The cars temp. on regular days sits at the half way point and stays there no matter what which is good. On the rare hot days the temp sits at the half way point if I baby her. If I drive her harder the temp climbs to 3/4 on the gauge a stays there even if I slow down and baby her. If I drive her hard again rhe gauge kisses the red line and will not come down. The car hasnt overheated or boiled over but Id like to have the gauge return to a lower position just for peace of mind. The car is a 91 Z "1LE". The new motor is a 355CID 10:1 with a Stewart high flow water pump, hypertech thermomaster chip, 180* stat, new rad cap, antifreeze with water wetter and a newer aluminum stock rad. The fan comes on properly but seems to have trouble bringing the temp. back down. The air dam is okay. I know the factory gauges suck and was wondering how to check if its crap? Is it time for a high flow heavy duty rad?
