l69 dual intake air cleaner ducts..
I Just Got A Gm HT383 truck motor and put a zz4 cam in it. Its 430 hp and 480 tq. I have a q-jet 4 bbl and i only had the single air inlet air cleaner with duct. I purchased a dual inlet air cleaner but i need the ducts. I went to Gm and they cannot get anything like that. I know that somebody else out here has ran into the same problem as me. I dont want to suck in hot underhood air. You Can gain 1% power for every 10 degrees cooler your intake air is. So if i can drop that intake Temp from 250 degrees to 70 degrees I am gaining 22% power. So What Do I Do for Ducts???
Thanks
Brian

you gotta find em used, or in my case i got lucky and got them used but brand new still in boxes with a slightly dinged up air cleaner with no thermac (witch i bondoed up and it looks sweetm, just doesnt have the cool sticker on top) anyway they are no longer produced and they are hard to find but you might get lucky, i diddnt even put them on my car yet and becasue of my current situation with college i might not ever be able to, in which case in the event that that happens in the future if you still diddnt have any luck, ill let you know.

Just get an edelbrock open air cleaner. Much better than that dual snorkle IMO. But if you insist on using it, get some of the old intake ducts from junkyard camaros. I bet dryer ducting would work great too.

Anybody that reads this thread and has a set of them laying around please dont hesitate to e-mail me yobrian2000@hotmail.com Thanks..
It has been proven on a dyno that reducing your intake air 10 degrees increases power 1%... So if your underhood temp is 250 degrees instead of lets say 100 degrees max with cold air intake. 15% more power sounds kinda nice dont it??

Drag tests through the 1/4 mile have shown the L69 aircleaner will knock about 0.25 seconds off the ET of a mid-16 second 305 thirdgen.
That's it.

I bought the pass side one from a GM wholesale outfit online about 2 years ago. Went there a few months back to get another one and could not, they were no longer available. I am still missing the drivers side one, was never able to come up with that, but fabbed an LG4/L03 duct(though smaller) to work. Even though I sold my carbed 3rd gen, I held on to the aircleaner setup, you don't see too many nice, complete ones laying around

Will,
Nice job on the Iroc
Headers are next but do the heads at the same time as you do the cam. Saves a ton of extra work. I have worked up a how-to on porting and polishing your heads. The L98 heads are very good for a home p and p.
The link is at the end of my sig.

Thank you, I am very proud of her. And I want to find a set of aluminum vette heads to port out or maybe some stock 083's. I really don't know which would be better. I am having a horrible pinging problem lately, and people say that its harder to deal with with the iron heads. Oh well. Thanks again
