L98 vs LT1
I'm sure this has been done a million times, but can anyone give me a link comparing and contrasting L98s to LT1s? I love 3rd gens but would like to start learning the ins and outs of the L98 engine. Didn't it come in Corvettes of this era too?

Lt1's got better heads and intake system. Also reverse cooling. They also got the opti which many consider a downgrade.
With the big improvement in cylinder heads, cams etc. I see no need to go to an LT1. You can make good power with the L98.

The L98 is a very bottem-end power engine, L98's make the power much quicker than LT1's and LS1's, but on the downside, you don't have the top-end power like the other motor's. With that being said, a new intake(Holley Stealth Ram?) and a new cam(Hot Cam?) will really open up your top-end and you'll be outrunning LT1's.

Hmmm... last time I checked my L98 was computer controlled and, as a side note, the LT1 stock for stock made the least amount of torque out of the three.

also note that L98 is the RPO code for the 350 TPI, which was only available with automatic transmission (700r4) Z28's, IROC-Z's, Formula's, GTA's had the L98 option. the 305 TPI (LB9 RPO code) was availble on the same models but had the option of the 5 spd.

No, same camshaft. The only difference between the F-body engine and the Corvette engine was the Corvette's aluminum heads, and the external EGR system, since the heads didnt have it built-in.
