LS1 brakes on 3rd gen.
Does anybody use a LS1 front kit on his 3rd gen. ? www.bigbrakeupgrade.com has a nice kit for an affordable price. Will it really improve braking power ?

Looks like a pretty nice kit. Cheaper then the Baer brake upgrade, that I've seen anyways. As for improving braking I would imagine it would since its a 2 piston caliper and bigger rotors, which really helps.

Those prices are too high you can get the brackets for cheaper, spend a little money and have a stock rotor turned down to the hub. You can modify your spindle yourself. This is identical to the ZR1 front brake upgrade. If you do all this it should be a total of under 500. go to thirdgen.org and view the brake board. This is the same as the BAER kit but half the price. The only expensive part is the calipers and rotors.

Re: LS1 brakes on 3rd gen.
I have been doing quite a bit of research on the modifications needed to bolt up either the LS1 or C5 brakes and all you would really have to buy from someone is the bracket. The spindle modification can be done by a monkey or a machine shop for rather cheap. All it consists of is cutting off some ears and drilling and tapping new holes. Then you will have to get a stock 3rd gen rotor turned down to just the hub. More than likely you will have to get longer wheel studs but those are cheap as well. Lastly buy the front brake kit and a few more odds and ends.
But I decided to go with a 4 piston Wilwood kit which is only going to be about $100 more than the C5 kit. However this is forcing me to get my 17" wheels on the car as well.

Re: LS1 brakes on 3rd gen.
where can i get some information on doing a c5 brake conversion?
and who sells the brackets to adapt the ls1 calipers to the 3rd gen spindles
is there a site, or a pdf with instructions to do the brake conversion yourself?

Re: LS1 brakes on 3rd gen.
Im running the Z06 front brakes on my ragtop.
One thing to remember is that going this route of turning the stock rotors down to hubs and mounting the new discs on the outside - moves your wheels that much farther out. This can cause problems if you are running big wheels up front with an already tight fit. Im running 275/40s on 17x9,5" TT2s and got some challenges...

Here is the site that I found for the C5 brake info.
C5 Brakes
Also if you look around www.thirdgen.org you will be able to find a ton of info on how to do the conversion.
