LT1 cam in an L98

Did a search didn't really find much...so...what are some results of switching to an LT1 cam in an L98? What kind of power increases will be seen? What will happen to the power curve? Is that a good thing for an L98 to put an LT1 cam in? The LT1 cam is significantly bigger if I remember correctly, but with a stock TPI is that too much rpms for it?
Also, if switching to an LT1 cam, what things must be modified in the L98 to make this swap successful?

Thanks guys

I don't think you'll see much/any performance gain. IIRC, the cams are almost identical, with the LT1 having a little more lift

I know they give a good boost on an LO3, but maybe the fact that the LO3 cam is the 2nd smallest GM cam EVER put into a car has something to do with it...

I actually was going to do this on my 92 Z28 and changed my mind. The L98 cam and the 96-97 LT1 cam have the same duration, but the L98 has 114* LSA and the LT1 cam has a 117* LSA , which is intended to make the LT1 have more low end torque. The cam does have more a little more lift than a L98 cam though but it won't do much with stock heads. I went with a Hot Cam, but haven't got it up and going yet.I figured it was a good time to do it when I was porting my heads and intake.

Cam specs:

1987 TPI system:
305 5spd 350 AT
(LB9-L98)
202 207, .404/.415 115 LSA

1995 LT1:
203 208 .450 /.460 116 LSA

Those are the numbers I have found for the stock cams in those cars....sounds like a decent gain could come about going to an LT1 cam, I had always heard the cam in the 95 LT1s were a litte bigger than the other LT1s that looks good for what, maybe 15 rwhp?

just a check here...
think you mean 203 and not 230 intake duration on the lt1 cam

Yeah that's what I was thinking, the chart I took it off said 230, but after I made the post I was thinking that was probably a typo....203 is it I believe. So how much power could a L98 make w/ an LT1 cam, long tube headers, catback, pullies, and tuning?

You would probably make just as much HP with the stock cam. LT1 cams are so similar , unless you were working for GM high Tech and wanted to compare production cams in a SBC, I would put something far better in there. A ZZ4 cam would make nice power gains.

Cams...

The engine with the longest-duration hydraulic roller cam is the 1988-89 TPI 305 5-speed and L98 350. Those cams have 207/213 degrees duration @ 0.050".
