Master Cylinder Options

I am going to replace my master cylinder and was wondering who makes a good one. Should I go GM, aftermarket or rebuild. TIA

OOps. This is for a 91 Firebird with WS6 suspension but not 1LE. It has 4 wheel disc brakes.

I would stay with a GM replacement part, less install problems.

When you see the price difference, you'll go to an aftermarket reman.

The term: REMANUFACTURED means making a working part out of one using pieces from salvaged non-working part. I would not be cheap with brake parts. My opinion.

It means that they take the pitted bore, hone it, and use oversized seals. It's not really any less desirable than original, and at $175 vs. $25, I'm willing to change it every few years if it's necessary.

It may be your choice, but NOT mine. And I do not like changing
the same part over and over again. Remanufactured Parts are almost or the same as used parts.

Is there an aftermarket one that is geared for better performance then?

Spend $200 then. I've got remans on a few of my cars and have yet to have a single failure. To save $175, I'm willing to spend an hour of my time once every 4 or 5 years if necessary. Metal is metal and new ones are going to pit just as badly as ones that have been honed.
