Mods to a 92 Formula

Ok, so from what I've gathered, The Firebird Formulas had 3 different horsepower options, ranging from 170 to 245? Firebird FORMULAS had 170?!?! I'm suprised! What did the V6 Firebirds have then?!

Anyway, what are the popular mods. I'd like to get a 92 Automatic Firebird Formula to run 13s if possible. What do you think it would run stock, and what do I need to break 13s?

Thanks

The 170hp engine was the TBI305 and I don't think it ever came in the Formula's, just the base Firebird's (but don't quote me on that.) And as far as the TPI motors go, the hp may not be high but ask about the TORQUE.

For 13's in a 350/700-R4 car you'll need a good exhaust and intake system, a convertor, gears and suspension, and tuning. If you do it right you can catch 13's with no major engine work.

dont' forget about the simple mods:
160* thermostat w/ throttle body bypass (if it's a tpi)
bump the timing up a bit and run better gas

as for serious mods:
headers and cat back (cutout if so desired)
some intake work (not sure of the intake routing on formulas...are they the same as 3rd gen camaros?)
(if tpi) port the plenum, just behind the TB and just before the runners.
maybe bigger tb
roller rockers 1.6ratio would help out too

ive heard that a set of large tube runners on a 305 will give you about 20 horse power to the rear wheels, and getting a fuel pressure regulator will make a pretty big difference on a 305 also you might want to consider a set of underdrive pulleys!

Never heard of runners before? What are large tube runners?
