My friend is looking at an 85 IROC need opinions on what it is worth

Okay my friend is looking at getting an 85 IROC I figure it is only worth $2500-$3000 Canadian. They are asking $3500 for it.

It is a 305 Automatic, 4 wheel disks, No a/c that i know of, power windows and locks, front end needs some work (he admits it and said he spun through an interesection and screwed up the alignment), body is straight but the paint is SEVERLY faded, the drivers side door sags TONS (he claims it only needs the lower pin for 7 bucks, from what I hear it is sagging tons and is probably the top if not both), tires are in poor condition (burned off), has aftermarket rims (they look like semi cheapy brand).

So yeah I figure since most the time you can find a decent automatic z/28 or RS with good paint around here for 3 grand, that the guy should maybe knock off 500-1000 bucks because of the really faded paint, the sagging door, and the fact that the front end sounds like it needs a fair bit of work.

My friend isn't really mechanically inclined so all this stuff will have to be done professionally.

What do you all think?

Tell him to look for another car. Go on www.AutoTrader.com and see what they are like for that price for where you are by searching with your zip code.

I think your bud should pass on it. It sounds like a POS.

That car could have been in a serious accident, wasn't repaired right, and now it cannot be aligned properly in the front end. I don't buy that lame excuse 'spun through an intersection' which messed up the alignment.

Go look for a better car. They are out there, just takes some effort and research to find. If you get impatient and are prone to settling for something less than what you want, you'll regret it.

The last thing you need is a piece of crap someone else is trying to unload.

Yeah, it has never been in an accident for sure cuz it has never had new paint. The only way my one friend is gunna buy it is if he can get it for UNDER $2000 bucks. On the other hand the one friend who wants him to buy it is gunna tell his other friend to buy it, and if he doesn't buy it then the one friend is going "buy it and sell it for double with crap paint"

Yeah okay, sure there

Hehe, I wish that I had gotten the two parts cars for 300 bucks. But NOOOOOO my mom was stupid, then I could have just sold my friend the one if he had to sacrifice a good body to get a decent running engine and suspension.
