need advice

I have 245/50-16 on the front, I want a taller tire in back, maybe a little wider, any ideas? maybe a 255/60

For your stock 16x8 wheel, go with a 255/50r16 tire for a slightly wider tire. The 255/60 will most likely rub, and will throw your speedometer by a good bit.

To what end? 10mm more of rubber is not that much more traction and you have to get gears and maybe even a speedo adjustment box to fix the speedo reading. Not worth it, IMO.

255/50r16 vs 255/60r16

You understand tire sizes right?

Stock 245/50r16 are roughly 26" in diameter.
255/60r16 are roughly 28" in diameter.

I do understand it but going from a 245 to a 255 is only gaining 10mm. Yes you get a taller tire but not sure why it is benificial to your case.

Purley for looks man. My jeep has bigger tires in the rearand it looks cool. I made up for the difference in size by running different gear ratios in the axles. Wouldn't a 265/60 16 be a little wider and taller?

OK. Yes it would but like I said the gains would be negligible as far as perfromance went and that was what I thought you were trying to get.
