need manual tranny options that can handle a 383

T5 isn't rated for that kind of torque, so it will wear out the tranny quicker then it normally would,
but you don't usually break stuff unless you are getting traction,
but even a T56 will break with traction

either jegs or summit have a t5 listed that is upgraded to handle alot more power. one is 500#s and the other is 600#s of torque. they are listed for the mustang, but there's got to be some built for the fbody (or maybe they are interchangable...not sure)

thats why I want Tremec instead of Richmond,
T56 is not a great tranny, not a bad tranny but I know lots of guys that have blown them up, even built,
I got a 95 Z28 with a blower and it took out a stock 6 speed without problems
I beleive they can only handle in the neighbourhood of 450ft.pds built
I was looking at the 600ft.pd Tremec with a .64 OD which is more then enough,
but who knows, when I got the cash in my hand if a T56 pops up, I might go that route
my motor will be around 450-500hp N/A and 500pd.ft with out the nitrous
probably going to back it with a Ford 9", don't think my 9 bolt with last very long
