Thats a real solid engine. JPrevost just went 13.6 @ 103 with the cam that came with the crate and a Holley 670 TBI. I just wanna get my lil Vortec 305 movin up twards ~98 mph.

Switching from an Edelbrock 600 to a Demon 650 with mech secondaries dropped me from 13.9/14.2's to 12.8's - 13.0's depending on weather with the stock cam and stock 350HO on radial T/A tires. The car weighed around 3150 back then.

When I ran the 12.93, 12.88 and 13.0's at 106 and 105.X's I had a regular Edelbrock Performer non air gap, non rpm intake for vortec cylinder heads.

My 12.4X's at 110.X with 2.0 60 foot times was done with a Super Victor for vortec cylinder heads.

This is basically the reason I went with the Vortec heads so when the 305 blows I can do a mild 350 and make some good power.

Vortecs...

Seth - great times with those heads. I love my Vortecs. So far I've managed to hit 12.15/110.52 on drag radials weighing 3800# in a '77 Z-28 with ported Vortecs (stock valves and stamped steel rockers), RPM non Air Gap intake, and worked over 750 vac secondary Holley.

The Vortecs make a lot of power. Bang for the buck, they are unbeatable.

Thumbs up

Those are great times........I will be bringing my Formula to the track this Friday.......FINALLY!!!!!

I will post what I ran.

Everything I have came with the crate and I have the Vortec TPI base from Scoggin. I cannot wait to run it. I ran a basically stock LS1 (whisper lid and cut out) from a 40 MPH roll and I was a car behind him already to start. HE BARELY WALKED ME!!!! My buddy was like WHOA...."I thought those things were supposed to be slow"

1FastFormula - I'll be interested to know how you do at the track. I hope you put some sticky tires out back to take tire spin out of the equation. I have been thinking of the SD Vortec base and a set of Vortecs for my GTA as well. I'm extremely pleased with the Vortecs in my 413" Z/28.

Wink What size cams?

Hi guys that sounds like great times for Vortecs. I love mine. I was wondering what size cams you use. I have a fuel injection motor so I'm limited. I might build a vortec motor for my Impala and wanted to know what cam your running. Thanks and good luck!

whatchoo talkin bout, willis? you got dfi, right? you can run whatever cam you want to run. you could actually run most whatever size you wanted to with an lt1 car, if it wasnt for the stock computer not being able to go past 7k.
