New Mach 1 in Neighborhood
My neighbor just bought an 03 Mach 1. Well I am now number 2 as far as sound and performance in our sub-division/development
So now let the modding begin!
-T56 ETA: Mid Next Week
-With Christmas money, hopefully buy a used L98 (hope to have it in by next fall)
-Some kind of very good flowing P/P heads/StealthRam/BIG Cam/RR's/forged rods and pistons/etc
-Disk Brake Posi 9 bolt with 3.73's if I can find one
Think that'll do it?

No
hehe just playin. A cheap used L98 would be cool with a Stealth Ram intake but I would keep the bottom end stock and just buy a Nitrous Express kit for it. 100 or 150hp worth of spray would be more fun than porting stock heads and doing a cam swap I think. When you're looking for a lot more power, then you could do a complete serious engine build. Just my 2 cents but Goodluck! Sorry to hear of the new visitor also! Luckily my neighbor only has a 96 convertible automatic GT Mustant...hehe an easy 16 second beast
3.73 gears in a 9 bolt would be perfect if you could find one, then make SURE you have a drag oriented tire on the back because traction is what wins races. Stock sized ET Streets would be cool. later man.

You can get gears for a 9-bolt from http://www.diffsolutions.com if you come across one with 3.27's and want to change them out. Stock 3.70's are out there, and 3.73 is a popular aftermarket gear, so you might just find what you're looking for. If you find one with 2.77's it'll be expensive to go to 3.73's because you'll have to change the carrier and posi also.
I have 3.70s in mine.

Hawk's 3rd Gen
I actually ordered a 3.45 rear, but when he got it out of the car it turned out that someone had swapped 2.77s into it. I told him to just hang onto the cash till he found one and a few weeks later he called me. Bruce said "I can't find a 3.45 but I have a 3.70 rear. Do you want it?" I figured it was an aftermarket gearset and told him to send it on, but when they delivered it to the shop, lo and behold, it had the factory ID tag stating "ratio: 3.70." I popped the cover (was chaging the fluid anyway) and indeed it does have 10 pinion teeth and 37 ring gear teeth. Factory 3.70 gears. Happy, happy, joy, joy....
The info I've found is sketchy but it seems that they only used this ratio in '85 TAs with the 305/T5 combo. It's rare, but maybe not as rare as the "89 3.45 with PBR brakes" rear. I can't really find solid info on it.
