Teknohund - the autometer. Stock 3rd gen tachs are notorious for going bad, when I put my autometer in, it rean from 800-1500 rpm less at redline...
also, where the hell do i connect the backlight wire to?

When you say backlight wire, do you mean the 12V lighting wire (should be a white wire)? If so, all you have to do is just pull your fusebox down and tee into the INST LPS fuse. There should be a small gray wire going from that fuse behind the fuse box. Tee into that and now when you turn on your lights your tach will light up too!

I've heard about tachs being a tiny bit off and the gas guage being inaccurate at certian times, but in my experience that's it.
Matter of fact, a little while ago I was approaching one of those speed clockers and it was right on. SPEED LIMIT 30MPH and it was it clocked me at 40MPH, being exactly correct to the speed I was going and what the speedometer was saying.
