not sure i understand "flash" codes
i was reading the proceedure on 3rdgen.org and i dont understand how they get "12" out of the flash sequence they gave for when you do the paperclip trick. Also, will it throw codes even if the check engine light went off? And....what if there is multiple codes, how will i be ablte to distinguish between the different codes? Thanks.

Try it and you'll understand. If you see one flash, then a pause, then 2 flashes, that's a code 12. If it flashes 3 times, pauses, and flashes 4 times, that's a code 34. There will be a longer "double pause" between codes. Each code is repeated 3 times.
