Now That we Figured that out...

First I would like to thank the guys that helped me confirm that my heads were actually cast iron L98 heads.

Now, the next thing I need to know, is what is the max lift that these heads can handle in a cam?

I'm most definately doing a cam in the upcoming month, but the hardest part is trying to find one that will do my stock motor some good. When I do the cam, I will be porting the intake and the heads as well.

Again, what lift would you say is good to run on a set of stock 64cc L98's?

Also, if there are guys out there that put cams into a stock L98, let us know what you have, and what gains you got!

Thanks,
_Clark

This is a pretty common question on TGO. Many people use the hotcam since bigger cams need more RPMs, and the stock TPI really doesn't do much over 5k RPMs. I'd suggest a ZZ4 cam or Hotcam at most. A lot of people love the LPE 219 cam, it is 219/219 .525/.525 112 LSA I think.

How about valve clearance for cams like those? Will I be able to run a lift that high? Where abouts is my limit? I know this is a common question, but I did a few searches and turned up nothing in terms of my setup.

If it helps, I plan to do an HSR intake in the summertime

Re: Now That we Figured that out...

These are small valve heads, so there is a lot of clearance. I did a set of the aluminum L98 heads with over sized valves and a Hot Cam. Had plenty of clearence. Sorry don't know that the limit is. You'll be near the flow limit on these anyway, with the suggested cams. So there isn't much sense in going higher lift, you probably can't use it.
