Opinions on a mod while I have my engine out
I broke a compression ring so I had to pull out my engine but hey gonna make the best of the situation and add something while I have everything out and easily accesable. You can look in my sig and see what I already have but here are a few of my ideas anyway.
1. like a 2000 stall converter (kinda reluctant to do this cause my Z's bane is my tranny Ive had to rebuild it like 3 times and I think the stall may shorten its life even more)
2. Roller Rockers
3. Upgraded Distributor or ignition, I have stock units now
4. Fuel Pressure Regulator (prolly not cause Im gonna go to carb in like a month)
Any other things you can think of please recomend. I leaning towards the convertor now cause I think the 700 R4 is on its way out again anyway so Ill have fun with it while its in its death throws

Not really not with all the machine work I have done, and Im building a 383 this summer I already have my block. But Im gonna take this engine and put it in somehting else incase the stroker isnt daily drivable so Im not just scrapping this one.

I got my tranny rebuilt by www.rosslertrans.com and it lasted for 3.5 years behind my LPE 383 . That car is a daily driver in ANY condition and I did beat on it.
Roller rockers are good. Make sure you clay the pistons for clearance if you have an aftermarket cam.
New distributor is good since you have the old one. I would not waste my money on the ignition system. Just put in a hotter coil and be done with it.

It does hurt me a little in the take off but it screams in 2nd gear, I know it looks huge but the RPM range is fairly low it starts at 1500rpm. With a 2200 or so convertor I think Ill be ok.

90 bucks on a regulator is pointless if your going carb.
ignition boxes aren't much use that you'll notice unless your throwing more power and higher revs than what your at.
stock ignition stuff is pretty good as is; i wouldn't replace it unless you have a problem.
out of everything you described i'd go with the converter?

Yea pretty much what I had decided, I think Im gonna throw in a hotter coil and module though too they arent that much. And I think my spark does start breaking up a litle at higher rpms

Darth, Get a TCI 2400 convertor. My cam is a little smaller than yours in my 350 and that convertor makes 1st and 2nd gear scary. I hit 80mph in the 1/8 which is 8mph more than last year. I put in full exhaust including headers, convertor, cam, pistons, with the full rebuild. All I can say is that convertor is fun once the RPM's hit 2500 at WOT. Hold on

Maybe you shouldnt do anything to it . If your building a 383 this summer......Than I wouldnt even think of adding to your 305, not unless you buy parts that you can use on the 383 this summer. Save your money on bigger and better.

A. I dont have that strong of a will, while the thing is out I have to do something to it and Im not abondoning this engine anyway I have to much in it. I think Im gonna put it into like an early 90s S-10.
B. I dont think I mentioned anything that wouldnt work with the stroker, especially the stall or teh upgraded distributor which is most likely what Im gonna do
