parts off a 88 Iroc z

Does anyone know what differences there are suspension wise, that differ in a 88 Iroc tpi350 , vs. a 88 v6 base model.....I know the coils are different....I have the chance to get this as a parts car(the iroc)...and wanted to upgrade the suspension.....is it worth all swapping out....swaybar/a-arm/brakes....and any other parts on this car I should swap over....

I think everything is different. The IROC has stiffer everything, and bigger sway bars.

What brake package is on the IROC? J65? 1LE? My car has the J65, and they're like "entry-level" 4 wheel disc. Not the best but better than drums. You can actually get decent aftermarket parts for the J65 brakes to make them work a lot better. Like slotted/drilled rotors, better pads, change the prop valve and ss flex lines.

I really don't know what brake package.....it has....it was dark and rainy when I looked at it.(where would I look to find this out???)...the guy is parting it out cheap....so I may take everything I can.....I have a v8 already...so I know I need the springs....but as far as the a-arms and such....I don't know....I know these cars handleed better....I don't know it it was by just having stiffer springs or what

Re: parts off a 88 Iroc z

Get the power steering gear,It was a quick ratio in IROC's thats why they handle so good (well, one of the reasons). And yes,the sway bars are bigger and better shocks and struts. Changing a-arms isnt neccessary.

Oh yea, most IROC's had a "wonder bar" that works like a strut tower brace except it was for the steering box. It bolts to the frame on each side right in front of the steering box, easy to see from underneath.

awsome....I'll defantly grab that stuff...on the steering box.....this guy took the engine/tranny out 5 days ago....and took the power steering lines off the gear box.....and left the hood off......it has rained for the last 3 days here.....can the steering gear box be drained....I know it had to get some water in there......I would think as long as it had oil still in it....and I got it all out,... soon....that it would'nt hurt it....ya think?????

You can flush any water out of the PS box. You'd want to fluxh it anyway with fresh fluid. Yeah good call, I forgot about the quick ratio steering. I like it!!
