power steering hose on 87 iroc
hey guys, i dropped my motor back in my car a week or so ago, and i cant hook up the power steering pressure hose back to the steering box
for some reason it just doesnt bend enough to seat properly, and so i cant tighten it up
its a 87 305 carb
can anyone post a pic of their engine compartment, specifically the steering box and the steering pump so i could see if i'm doing something wrong

Re: power steering hose on 87 iroc
maybe i'm just weak but the metal lines wont bend at all and the rubber hose has no more leway i tried routing the hose infront of the engine, and i tried next to the frame rail, it doesnt it either way

Re: power steering hose on 87 iroc
I replaced the high pressure hose on an 89 Formula I used to own and it was a major PITA. Seems like the metal portion had too much bend in it. Compared it to factory original and it was the same. Sorry, don't have pics, can only advise extreme patience.

Re: power steering hose on 87 iroc
I've been having a lot of trouble finding a replacement hose for my 1983 305. The replacement hoses I've looked at from the aftermarket don't match the hose I took out of my car and AC Delco doesn't make them any more.
I have a picture of the one I took out. Let me know if you'd like to see it.

Re: power steering hose on 87 iroc
I've replaced my pressure line 3 times now in the last 5 years. The cheap aftermarket (all that is available) just don't hold up. They are not bent like my factory piece was. I can get the line in the pump, but not in the box. OR, I can the line in the box, but then can't get it in the pump!
My solution: unbolt the pump, install the line at both end with the pump hanging freely, then mount up the pump.
