question on lifters and rockers
Hay guys I need to know if I can use roller rockers and lifters in my 350. The motor is an older motor from around 75 that has been rebuilt and built up to around 300 hp. I'm puttin in a bigger cam. So I want to know if I can use roller rockers and lifters. Waht kind would be the best??? my cam is an Edelbrock Performer RPM. if I can't use the roller set up what would be the next best aplication, the car is being built up for drag racing so I want them strong.
Thanks
Thanks

Any rockers will work. I prefer the crane ones.
As to your 75 block, I believe in that year or years they did not come with a roller block so you will have to get it machined to accept roller rockers. If that were the case, you might as well go for a new block altogether or forget it till then

You need to get a retro fit kit to install a roller cam into a flat tappet block. Roller blocks have retainer plates or something at the front of the motor. Maybe stick with flat tappet, unless you are set on a roller cam.

The roller cam your talking about is the stock 3rd gen hydraulic style but you can fit a "solid roller" cam into the early small blocks without retainer plates. The only thing you would have to add is a cam button. The motor we run now in our 67 is a solid roller with over .600 lift and roller rockers with guide plates and hardened push rods. My only advise is to stay away from the harland sharps rockers. They don't have enough material casted in them to keep them from bending.

I heard that the Summit brand were actually made for them by Harland Sharp. I believe for around $330 you could get a set of lifters that fit and will retrofit the block with a roller cam. Give LPE a call @ 260-724-2552 and while you are at it, buy one of their ready made toys and you won't have any more questions or problems.
PS: You have a pretty dumb car. If you take the rockers out of the box before you get near the car and act cool, the car won't even know what you have put in till it is too late. Seriously, it doesn't matter what roller rockers you put in. They will fit. You could go to Comp Cams and get their special steel ones or I would say get the Crane narrow Body ones. Reason being that if you ever decided to transplant them to a 87 and up motor, they will fit the centerbolt valve covers.
