Question on Torque Converter stall speed for MiniRam
i plan on getting a torque converter after i get the mini ram on my iroc in a few months. the stock iron heads are ported out already so i know im going to have flow for the mini ram... anyone have a suggestion on a stall speed? is there anything else you need to know that i havn't said so you can answer my question? thanks guys

The camshaft specs are key in choosing a torque converter. RPM range, weight of the car, rear axle gear, possibly even the kind of tire you plan on running(for a track car anyways).
This is where people decide if their new "custom tailored" engine is worthy of a custom made torque converter so you can use every bit of power that engine makes. Precision Industries, Yank, Pro-Torque, Neal Chance, TCI, ATI, Mid-West, and Coan can all build exactly what you need. Some are high dollar, others aren't. Goodluck man.

My brother and I put a MiniRam on a basically-stock L-98 short block a couple of summers ago. Results were not stunning with the stock torque converter and cam. The short runners killed bottom end torque quite a bit back-to-back vs. the TPI setup. It hauled butt on the top end, though, even without a custom chip (this was a Mass Airflow Sensor 1987 engine, though, which I'm sure compensated quite a bit for the intake change). In general, it would probably ET the same but at a higher MPH.
If I had to take a wild stab at a torque converter that would work well with a combo like that I'd say something around 2500 RPM would get you in the realm of sanity for good street performance use.
