Post Ran the car after the build, numbers are hard to stomach.

LT1 cam, Vortec heads milled .020, Performer RPM intake manifold, 2400 stall.

Run 1: 16.116 @ 89.43, 2.514 60'
Run 2: 15.702 @ 91.81, 2.414 60'
Run 3: 15.500 @ 92.81, 2.412 60'

If you dont want to hear me bitch, dont read past this line.

The goal for tonight was a 14.80 @ 96.00, which obviously was much too low. Im running stock 2.73 gears, no posi, and stock tuning. I had WinALDL hooked up and from the looks of it my fuel pressure was dead on, the highest reading I had at WOT was .906 - maybe a tad rich.

These times were also at Dragway 42, which isnt even a track compared to Norwalk. But Norwalk was closed today for the Chrylser Classic, and this will be the only weekend Im home from school while the tracks are open.

Who wants to help me install my posi? lol.

Wow Chuck...you need some traction, or to get rid of the lead foot.

Gotta get those 60's down, and you could break into the 14s.

Congrats on getting it finished though.

don't worry chuck it will come around. get that posi and gears in there and a little chip tunign and you will be ready to rock. your set up is still compromised a little, but it will really fly when you are done. i'd be willing to bet that in teh spring you will be well into teh 13's.

later

Yea, lots of tuning, lots of traction, and maybe a little nitrous. We'll see how deep the ol pockets get in May

Chuck man! Don't be down. Honestly though, was it spinning the tires or was it bogging off the line? Suggestion for your next modifiction? Stickier tires if you are spinning the **** out of the ones you have now OR 3.73 gears. With that intake and those heads, 3.73's should not be overkill. Mid 13's easy man...EASY as pie with 3.73s and a set of ET streets mounted on your stock rims . A set of 26" tall 11.5" wide Et streets for a 16" rim will fit those Z28 rims like a freakin glove. Seen it..love it! Goodluck!!

Denny..wish I had more mod money!! gnaaar!

Already got a 4th gen rear with 3.42/posi in it, just still chillin in the garage though Hopefully I can find a set of salad shooters and bfgs or nittos for a good price and get back relativly soon. I was happy with 93 mph on stock 45 pph gm injectors though.

Hey Chuck, Don't worry ****. We have the tuning part on Lock brotha. Seriously, those 3.42's are gonna help a lot, and so is the posi. You will not believe the difference, take my word on that. If you didn't live so damn far away I would be in the car already coming over to help ya out. But you live darn near all the way to pennsylvania.

Keep your head up man, Remember every .1 in your 60' is worth .15 in the 1/4. If you pull off a 1.90 60'...... you do the math.

Keep tweaking bud.

You'll prolly net some mid 14's out of that combo.

Gear will help out a lot, what are you shifting at?

I gained a consistanted .5 sec on the gtech when I went from 2.73's to 3.73's peg legged, I gained another .3 or .4 getting a posi.

your mph seems a tad low though, is the motor broke in?
I'd say it's tuning.. and you might gain some mph with gears too.

you should be out running LS1's by the time your done.

Ohh Brad's talkin ****

Yea tuning is a major part. I was looking at my aldl logs and I saw my throttle only open 94%, fun more stuff to screw with. I know with a larger tbi it'd pull a few more mph out of it.

Chuck, just some advice before you spend more of your hard earned dollars.

1. A chip, an intake, etc... by themselves will not make up for the 100 or so additional horse you are hoping for. - Just so you don't do the "hot rodder blind search" and spend even more money. Work with what you have, add more later.

2. I would get the thing tweaked, throw a tire on it and have some fun.

Gears will help out a lot on that setup.
I was able to get my friends 91 Firebird L03 to run a 14.74@93mph earlier this year.
He has the LT1 cam, different intake manifold, headers, true dual exhaust (went back to single for ground clearance reasons), 4th gen rear, stock stall, AFPR, subframes and LCA relocation brackets, and some other small mods.

Oh, and I burned him a chip with the EGR turned off as well as the speed limiter. With the 3.42 gears, speedo would read 120mph and hit the governer when actual speed was like 90 something. So don't forget about the Speed Limiter, you need to disable it or change the VSS gear in the tranny.

Oh yeah Chuck, I forgot about the Speed limiter thing. I saw the source code change for that..see if we can take care of that. You won't do much better in the 1/4 if you don't... that is considering that you have the speed limiter.
