Rear License Plate Braket Problem

When I lower my plate to get to the trunk key lock, my license plate spring pops and the plate just hangs there at a 45 degree angle. I have to take the plate and braket off the car and stretch the spring back onto the metal hook. Then when I get it ready to mount back on the car, there is very little of the hook still making contact with the holes in the bracket. After about 3 or 4 openings on the license plate, it pops off again. Anyone else having or had this problem? Anyone have a permanent cure?

Do you ever pick parts from salvage yards? The whole license plate assembly shouldnt cost more than a couple of bucks.
