i agree with this very much. third gens are the bastard children of the f-body...no one wants them unless they are super rarefor collecting for example the 1LE, B4C, TTA, etc. hell i got a 86k mile 91 z28 for 1200 bucks, it only needed some carpet and a driver seat to be mint.

Yeah, I have an '84 Z28 with the L69 305 and I have been debating the same thing for years. She just keeps running (just drove from NY to El Paso, TX with original 100K or 200K mile engine - 5 digit limit???) and I know the day she will need "major internal" work is coming.

The 375hp build up in Engine Masters and Camaro Performers is tempting, but I don't know about the longevity (ability to go 200K miles).

GM crate motors are looking good at 290hp/ 326lb ft for only $1,700 (long block), but I like the concept of keeping my lady original with the 305 in a world of 350's on every block.

BTW - the local machine shops in TX are quoting about $2,200+ to rebuild my 305. NY was quoting about $1,200+. I wish I did it in NY.

Brand new crate 350 is only 1200-1300 forget the rebuild
