I just rebuilt a 600 cfm holley, and if you've never done it, they're very simple. Just replace the old gaskets, o rings, powervalve, needle and seat, and whatever else comes in the kit with the new stuff. I would soak the carb in a 1 or 2 gallon can of carb cleaner also, after all the of the plastic and rubber is removed, and the carb is totally disassembled. Compared to some other brands of carbs, the holley is very simple. Go for it!

find a book that shows you how to do it, there are a couple of spots that can be rough if you don't remember the exact way it went back together
definately soak it overnight in the carb cleaner, also make sure you have compressed air to clean out all the crevices and holes.
an easy way to disassemble and reassemble is to get 4 bolts that will fit through the holes on the base of the carb and be long enough to act as its own table, and 2 nuts for each bolt. Thread one nut down the bolt as far as you want, place the bolts on the carb so that the head will be on the bottom and then put the last nut on the carb so its stable. the butterflys should now be off of the table so you can move the throttle and secondaries without it hitting the table. I found that this position was the best to disassemble everything.
good luck, and i'm sorry i made that sound more difficult than it really is
