Im glad I saw this post. I had planned on running a single 3 inch pipe, but with those pics it seems that duals arn't that bad. i want the turn down, so with bullet mufflers, there shoudl be no clearance problems with duals? Now if I can find a muffler shop to do it.</font>
Don't say I didn't warn ya.... your car will not be as fun to drive on long trips or on the highway. The sound drumming in your ears constantly will eventually drive you nuts. Not to mention all the attention you'll be getting from cops...

Just a heads up

I know its and older post, and perhaps the questions were answered.

BUT I think I have something relevant to add.

Here is a collection of Dual exhausts on thirdgens. The pictures were collected, and hosted by a member of Thirdgen.org.

Dual Exhaust Picture Collection

Willie's Dual exhaust is featured in the link above, but this is his home page. Its got alot more pics. It is also one of the most original, and I think best ways of running a dual exhaust on a thirdgen.

I did lose some hearing though, and it was LOUD on the highway.
It's called "Luck of the Draw." I have never had a front licence plate in my firebird and never got pulled over since 91. I had an 89 Merkur and got pulled over twice for loud exhaust and no plates first time I drove it after the fix (exhaust and plate). Exhaust was legal too but they thought it was a little loud. To be honest, it was like a porno thing. "Barely Legal"

I didn't know the Ford 9 in was that loud. Is it that loud? My Richmond Gears set was louder than the GM set but I don't see what that has to do with your rear end.

Something someone else forgot to mention:

1. Lose ground clearence
2. Many "NON MANDREL" bends slowing down exhaust charge
3. Bang car out of shape to get pipe to clear

You might experience one or more of the problems. Never saw a car without all the problems mentioned yet. Looking forward to seeing a timeslip that shows it is better than a good 3 or 4 in single system. Never seen that yet although I have heard of it. It is like the Hodag in WI. Mythical creature that has been heard of but no one has ever actually seen.
