i checked it out, it says its 300 horses, i didn't find the ft/lbs but i imagine that is why its getting a bit more popular....i first thought a LS1 soudns like a better choice, but if the 6.0 is creatin some amazing foot lbs of torque, that would make a really fun car!!!

6.0....its not exactly a performace motor stock its a truck motor. for the horsepower you want and the weight differences you will be saving and you might as well get an ls1. you would basicaly be doing the same swap anyway for less stock horsepower and more weight. normaly the iron 6.0 is used for monstous horsepower for drags and stuff not saying others dont have it but i think a ls1 is the best choice for the already heavy 3rd gen car.if you got a 6.0 you would pay way more for the swap than the 300hp is even worth.you can get 300hp out of a standard 350 cheaper and with the same weight.

I'd have to totally disagree. do the LQ9, put in a good performance cam, put a set of ported 5.3L heads on it, leave the stock truck intake (makes more torque), and get some good headers on there and you're going to make some good power. The weight difference is no different than a SBC, maybe a few pounds more, but its not going to make it a whale like you're talking about. The advantage to the 6.0 is that you can bore it far more than you can the LS1 and you don't have to resleeve it to make more cubic inches. If you plan on making serious power down the road, do the 6.0. If you just want a newer engine with more power than you've got right now, lighten the car a little, and have no plans for power down the road, do the LS1. Its going to be the same amount of work either way.

the 6.0L LQ9 iron block rocks, you can put a 4" stroke crank without having to clearance the bottom of the cylinders, 5.3L heads for higher compression, and an LSX intake on top for a ton of power. the 6L LS2 blocks are aluminum and the cylinder skirts drop down farther so you have to clearance them for the high stroke crank.
and the LT1's can use the same rod/pistons as a gen1 SBC. the only thing different is the 1piece rear main seal and the reverse flow coolant wich requires a different block and heads. and the cam driven water pump and the optispark.
