Snorkel Intake
Why do so many people choose to stay with the snorkel intake or try and find a dual intake? Why not just take it off all togather, does it have to do with retrieving cooler air? How hard would it be to makes those louvers functional?

Re: Snorkel Intake
Well then how hard would it be to take a hood such as a stinger and make it functional not using the snorkel? See I am young and I bought an 86 Camaro which is missing one of the hood louvers. Im just trying to figure out if theres anyway I could makee it functional.

Re: Snorkel Intake
you cant really make them functional without a TON of work. (im assuming you mean a Z28/IROC hood w/ louvers).
you would have to cut the hood, and then cut the louvers for it to work, personally,i dont think it would be worth all the work you would have to have in it for it to work.
just shop around or call a couple junkyards to see if they have any.
you might try your local Chevy dealership for them,im not sure if they are discontinued or not...if not, chances are they are going to want an arm and a leg for them, but its worth a try.
good luck

Re: Snorkel Intake
Well I just had a look at the thing and heres some of the problems.
Missing hood louver
cracked dash
the rear hatch doesnt latch and at the same time doesnt stay up
trim around the glass hatch, etc needs painted
needs some little engine work
need the exhaust tips
turn signal fuse blew
and then theres a few more things I cant think of so I got my work cut out for me to get it looking respectable

Re: Snorkel Intake
you can find a good hood louver im sure.
they make dash pad covers,or i have a dash pad w/ a cover on it that i can sell you. PM for details if you like.
does the rear hatch have the auto-pull down feature like cadillacs have? sounds like it might and they are WORLD FAMOUS for breaking and not letting the hatch shut. you can get it rebuilt, get a new one,or turn it into a normal trunk latch w/ power release (if its equiped w/ power release)
just tape up the window, rough up the strip w/ some fine grit sand paper and give it the Krylon touch...ive done it and looks great...i actually did the same thing to the outter edge of my t-tops as well, looks awsome.
not sure about a turn signal fuse blown, but the actual turn signal is a resistor under the dash near the steering column,cheap/easy fix.
good luck man,it will come around!
