Are Spacers Safe?

Are Spacers Safe?
I've wanting to replace the rear in my 87 and seen that the 4th gen will work but I would need spacers. I've heard stories that the spacers are not safe, and that they'll come free... the spacers
can't hold the horse/torque of the motor.
So I figured I'd post it a note and find out for others that are
using them or may have urgly stories?
would they hold upto 400 horse?

A friend of mine had some 17's on his Grand National with spacers. The car was in the 11's and he never had any problems. I'm not saying that you won't, but I'm giving an example of someone who didn't. It all depends on the workmanship of the spacers you're using.

Spacers, no. Adapters, yes. Anything that just slides over the wheel lugs and gets "squeezed" by the wheel and lug nuts to hold it in place is not safe for performance applications unless it's very thin. If it bolts solidly to the studs and then has it's own set of studs to mount the wheel (and adapter) then yes, it's safe.
You sure a 4th gen rear with 3rd gen wheels is gonna work? Even without adapters I think the rear tires are gonna be sticking pretty far out of the wheelwells. I could be wrong about that, though.

I want to put the 4th-gen rear on(hopefully I'll find a posi 3.42 with both disc's - soon) and then get z06 rims(front and rear).
Currently the front of the roc will not fit the z06 rims(w/o adapters - as U know). But I'm alittle unsure of adapters. Wouldn't want those babies com'n lose while I'm doin 90+mph.
It'll would be an ugly site!
but this is where I got the idea from:

my 87 roc is a vert and I love the way the fbodymotorsport
came out with the z06 rims. these's pro's and con's to everything...

The adapters(I got mine from Skulte) will be fine. My car runs 115 in the 1/4 and I have been plenty faster than that with no problems. They are quality pieces that bolt onto the hub and then the wheel bolts onto them.

I uesed the Skulte spacers on the front and pull over 1 g on sticky tires for over 2 years and no problems.. if you use a 4th gen rear the stock wheels will stick out farther I dont think they will rub unless your car is lowered but when you put on the Z06 wheels it will be fine..
