Start naming your 12 second 350 combos....
I can't stroke it. I can't put AFR's/Superram on it. I'm looking at a $4k motor. I'm 16. I need to look at this more realistically. Thoughts:
I'm still set on the Superram unless I can find a way around emissions or someone makes the LT1 intake emissions legal.
Heads are my big concern. If I can run an LT1 intake I'll run converted LT1 heads (would make a nice project). <That would be perfect. If not, I don't know. I'd like Aluminum but they're all very expensive. Maybe I'm impatient...just start listing your opinions...
LOW 13's or 12's...~290+rwhp
Thanks

if i were you id rip apart the block and do up the guts first. that way later on when you need the car for driving it will be easier to upgrade and the motor will benefiet more from the addons.
doesnt make sence to me to do up a stock gut motor with boltons only to later tear it all apart and change out the guts.
by guts i mean pistons rods etc

since every1 is spilling their age,im 18 lol so im right there w/ u guys anyway...
heres a good setup w/ the times ur lookin for,the setup on my should be between 350-400 HP at the flywheel.
Vortec Heads (w/ bigger springs, and drilled out pushrod hole)
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (for Vortec heads)
i have a 600 Edelbrock carb right now, would run alot better at the track w/ a 750 probably
Comp cams 270-HR cam (.495/.502 lift w/ 1.5 rockers)
about a 2300-2400 stall converter
hopefully soon to be a 3.73 posi
im guessing that right there should be a high 12 low 13 depending on traction. right now i dont have any suspension ungrades but plan on doing that next when the funds allow,im sure u guys know what i mean.

So are you saying you cant get the nice heads and intake to meet emmisions?
If thats your problem, Id say put most of the money into a hardcore bottom end and nice tranny & convertor. Buy SLP intake compenets, and use wjhatever heads can keep you on the good side of emmisions. Then with your nice bottom end use a moderate amount of nitrous to put you where you want to be performance wise.
I dont know what to do about heads, cause i dont know which ones meet emmisions, maybe ported stock castings. Im pretty sure some of Trick Flows heads are 50 state legal. But ive heard some members I respect bitch about them.

I've been out of the game a while, but my combo was a 87 IROC with a stock L98 short block with ported vette heads with 2.00" intakes, and 1.55" exhausts. TPIS ZZ-9 cam with Comp Cams 1.6 rockers, ported Edelbrock baseplate, Superram intake with 52mm throttle body, custom cold air induction, Edelbrock headers, Art Carr 700R-4 with 2800 stall converter, stock rear with 3.73 gears and Hotchkis control arms and panhard bar. That combo went 12.13 @ 114 mph. With a 140 HP Compucar nitrous kit, it went 11.07 @ 126mph. I was 17 at the time and worked and saved while I built the combination. It was my only car, so I couldn't have too much downtime. BTW- I never blew the rear and had 1.55 60ft times on a regular basis on slicks.

Rice Killer...in VA...
I'm in VA too, get your car together and I'll give you a shot at my 2.0 liter combo
For 350/12.X e.t.'s I'm going ZZ-9, Superram/base, 52mm, 1 3'4 headers, AFR195s, pulleys, aluminum driveshaft, jacobs ignition, 3.73 gears, and suspension
I ran a 13.8 with catback, Jet chip, K&N, pulleys and an aluminum driveshaft on ****ty Eagle GT II's

For reasonably cheap and BOLT ON..... Scoggin Dickey Vortec heads & intake conversion kit (retains all your existing TPI stuff from the runners-up and is, I beleive, emissions legal in most states). Add 1.6 rocker arms, headers and good flowing exhaust, ~2500 stall converter, 3.73s and some sticky rear tires and you'll run high 12s all day long. No need to yank the motor, swap cams or do any internal engine mods unless you really want to.

3.73's and TPI that runs outta breath at 4500? dont think thats a good idea unless ur gonna get a chip burned for it to run better w/ those gears. i think 3.42 or 3.55 would work better, but thats just me talking.

1982 Camaro-
350HO crate engine untouched: 12.93 @ 105 street tires
350HO crate engine, 9.9:1, XE274, victor intake: 12.4@110 street tires
No sticky tire passes, but it should go at least 12.2's with slicks.
Crate is $2000

i know it's long, but read it. maybe, even in my rediculous period of inexperience, i could help you
i dont quite see how some of these cars could get to the 12.5 range with the limited amount of mods listed. i mean these are 4000 pound cars (at least mine is) and i dont quite see how it could be done.
so what's the CHEAPEST way to get to 12.5 without nitrous? I prefer to go all motor. secondly, whats teh big deal with stealthram? everyone keeps talkin about putting it on their 350s, but I dont see the big difference. Maybe someone could help me out with that.
just so you know, i've got a budget 350 setup that gets 491 hp and 460 ft lbs of torque using a 750 carb and 10.5:1 compression, or 469 hp and 443 ft lbs running 9.5:1 if you'd rather run low grade fuel and save the money. this is a severe budget setup compared to the power. I handed this setup over to my friend for his nova the other day and showed him the dyno sheets and air flow charts for this and he just about fell out. he ordered the cam the next day through Crane Cams (cam was about 250 bucks. you can find it on summit for cheaper). you can modify the stock heads to get the power you need from them and some large tube headers will top off this massive power. let me know if you wanna see the specs for it. I would use it myself, but I NEED fuel injection.
for my fuel injection setup I've come up with a combo that uses the stock TPI intake and produces 404 hp with 418 torque at 9.5:1 or 422 hp and 433 torque at 10.5:1. again, if youre interested, let me know.
again, i ask everyone, what's the CHEAPEST way to get my L98 to toss my camaro down the quarter mile in 12.5 seconds?
what sort of suspension work would give me a better run and not be so outrageous that i couldnt use it on the street? thanks guys!
and sinse it seems so damn important, I'm 18
