Stranded for a few minutes.

I shut the car off, went inside for 5 mins, came back out, and car wouldnt start. Locked/unlocked (keyless entry/alarm which I DID NOT INSTALL, and will be taken out soon), opened/closed doors, checked battery cables, nothing. Turned the key, security light and all the other crap comes on, but it doesnt even turn over.

I wait about 20 mins, come back out, and it starts up like a champ. Am I missing something?

Sounds like it may be the starter solenoid. How long were you driving it before you shut it off to go inside?

Hmmm 10-15 minutes maybe. Barely enough time before it hit operating temps.

For what it's worth, the fuel pressure does build up when the pump cycles.

Sounds like what typically happens when the VATS starts acting up. You may have a wire coming loose on the back of the ignition key cylinder (VERY common problems with late 80's-early 90's GM cars.)

Thanks for the help.
Should also mention that the guy before me installed some crappy alarm, which would go off all the time, so I ripped out the speaker under the hood.

Sometimes, even when the alarm is disabled, I can just tap underneath the dash (where the whole mess of alarm crap is) and the alarm will go off. Its a huge mess under there. Ill take a pic.

You sure it is not the alarm system acting up? I would disconnect that now and see what happens.

I didnt hook it up originally and havnt a clue how they even work.

I am probably going to pay a stereo shop to have them remove it and have a factory chevrolet keyless entry installed (the 96 and newer styles). I put this on my truck and very happy with it.

I had this happen to me once also. The Great J is right, it was the VATS acting up. You have to sit and wait for 20 minutes or so for the security feature in the ECM to allow you to try to restart. It only happened to me once, but it was damned annoying.
