Post Stroke a 350 to 383????

Ok, I read the last thread with the guy that wanted to buy a whole new 383 motor. I am currently looking for a L98 IROC/Z28 OR GTA. If I want to storke it out, what all am i looking at? mI've seen the kits for around $2000. I'm not looking for insane horsepower, the most i'd want is around 400, but 350 is a better number. I know I'd have to beef up the tranny and rear. Fill me in on what i need to do, and how much i'm looking at.

PS: What do you guys think a shop would charge to stroke the 350?

You can make 350hp on a stout 350. There is no need to go to a 383 unless #1 You want to have somthing most people don't have. or #2 You want to make 400+. But this is just my opinion. I am planning the next motor buildup... lol I have only 4000miles on this new motor. I would be willing to guarantee 350hp easily with the next combo and still be able to drive it on the street.
I want to put on a set of AFR heads and a Stealth Ram. We'll see. Right now, my best guess is that I am making 290 crank hp or so, according to a 1/4 mile/mph calculation. My combo is in the sig. A set of heads and a high flow intake would for sure get me 50hp.

Yes, stroking a 350 would be a good idea, however if you want this 383 to make 400hp then your going to have to get some good heads and intake. AFR heads are almost a MUST. The hollie stealth ram, accell super ram, or tpis mini ram will all put up good # on the dyno. You may have a nice engine combo with pore tunning or the engine will run like **** because of something so minor. It took me almost a full year to tune my car right. even after ed wright burned a chip, and after i fryed a set of rings. The engine is torn apart right now so my dad and i can rering it. Once its running (a couple of days) the car should be fast as hell. Now that all the bugs are worked out im happy with the car. Anyways, a 383 stroker (done right) will run you about 5-6k at least, with everything up and running. Good luck and if you have any questions then just post. We will be happy to help you out.
