STUPID fuel pump question?

STUPID fuel pump question?
My stock fuel pump is not adequate for my current engine combo and I was wondering if I put a secondary pump near the engine with approx. the same volume of the stock pump would I have twice the volume or simply twice the current draw?
P.S. My reason for asking is even dumber than the question itself.....please don't go nuts on me for being stupid like those a$$holes over at TGO

It's not really about the work, I've done it 4 times already. I can actually have the tank out in about an hour. It's that I really don't trust a fuel pump other than my AC Delco. And I thought if one gave out I could baby her home on the other. I've had this car for a long time and plan on keeping it for even longer. Hell I even have a lift!

OK, you suck about the lift....
I suppose it would work. I just don't think it is necessary. You would have to go into more detail about your combo. The 255 is good for a ton of power.
Also, don't be so sure about the AC Delco. If you must, look up the GMC Typhoon or Syclone pump. I believe that it is a 255 GM pump.
I do know that Vortech superchagers had an add inline pump for some of their applications...

Re: STUPID fuel pump question?
It probably won't give twice the flow, but it will give a lot more than just one pump. It might even live a long life that way.
Many supercharger kits come with 'booster' pump that goes inline, and lets you keep the stocker in the tank. That booster is needed for the extra power (read as extra fuel flow required), and to build up pressure during boost and with an FMU, which raises the fuel pressure much more than stock. Higher pressures reduce the total flow capability of any pump, so the boost is necessary.
Just make sure to wire the fuel pump controls to the same signal, so that both pumps are on only at the same time. It's not good to try to suck through a turned off pump, nor push through one. Might burst a line or kill the pump.

Re: STUPID fuel pump question?
Thanks for all the good info guys! I'll be looking into the syclone pump for sure before I set on anything. Because like someone said a 255 will support alot of power.... way more than I'm making. All I have is a 350 with an HSR, CC306, and AFR 195's but it does run up top demanding a little more fuel than the stock pump can deliver. Again, Thanks!
